The Tennessee Walking Horse
The Tennessee Walking Horse, originally bred as a utility horse, was founded in middle Tennessee, and is a composition Standardbred, Thoroughbred, Morgan, American Saddlebred and Canadian Pacer horses. The Tennessee Walking Horse performs three distinct gaits: the flat walk, running walk and the canter. These three are the gaits for which the Tennessee Walking Horse is famous. Also many Tennessee Walkers are able to perform the stepping-pace, fox-trot, single-foot and other variations of the famous running walk, which are smooth, easy, trail riding gaits.
